A PLATFORM CLOSES. YOUR WORK NEEDS AN EXIT.

Keep the instructions.
Keep the connections.

Opal files can survive the service. The useful work is recovering what each step says and what it depends on, then checking the replacement.

The verified change

Google says Opal and Gems made by Labs stop running on 17 November 2026. Workflow files remain in the Opal folder in Google Drive; existing workflows do not migrate automatically. Download your original files and keep referenced assets separately. Read Google's FAQ.

This date is the end of the interactive service, not a claim that Google deletes your files that day. Source checked 27 October 2026.

TRY IT WITHOUT AN ACCOUNT

Read your downloaded workflow locally

Select a JSON file with the public Breadboard nodes/edges graph structure. This reader extracts supported prompt fields and dependency edges. It does not run your workflow or call a model.

Up to 2 MiB. File content stays in this browser; action counts do not include your prompts or file name.

What the reconstruction preserves

01

Instruction text

Text in reviewed configuration fields, including config$prompt text parts. Each section keeps its source field path and step ID.

02

Dependency map

Edges and ports stay attached to IDs. Nested graphs retain their own scope. Cycles are flagged; the reader does not invent an execution order.

03

An auditable handoff

Markdown notes and JSON inventory include an SHA-256 of your original file. Save the original too: a hash is not a backup.

Where this stops

This is a recovery inventory, not an automatic migration to Gemini, AI Studio or n8n. Binary assets, runtime state, credentials, service connections and unreviewed settings are not exported. Prompt references remain text and need review. Unknown shapes fail visibly.

We inspected the public graph types and the config$prompt port in Breadboard source at commit d873581099287ed737ab833349d90dc7e5652727. Validation covers the official minimal graph and our synthetic nested prompt example. Compatibility with your private Opal download and a replacement runtime still needs checking.

The example has five nodes across two graphs, three supported prompt sections and one deliberately omitted non-text part. Trying or downloading the example is excluded from useful-use measurement. Private prompts may still contain sensitive information; keep your downloaded recovery report private.

Before trusting a rebuilt workflow

  1. Keep the original JSON and the assets it references.
  2. Compare the recovered instructions and dependency map with the original editor while available.
  3. Recreate permissions, service access and settings in your chosen runtime.
  4. Run one input you own in both versions and compare the useful output. This reader does not establish equivalent behavior.
